Every year on November 15th, opens the Christmas market in Innsbruck's Old Town. This traditional Christmas market takes place in front of the Golden Roof and in the festively lit alleys. The air smells sweet of roasted almonds, cinnamon and punch and the stalls offer Christmas decorations, handicrafts and culinary delicacies.

Christmas markets in Innsbruck

The Christmas market in Innsbruck does not take place in just one place, actually there are 7 markets, which are spread over different places in the city. Each of the markets has its own character. The location itself - high above Innsbruck - is a highlight of the Hungerburg Christmas market. At Marktplatz, children can enjoy themselves with carousel rides and puppet theater. The market on Maria-Theresien-Straße has a modern design, with lots of light, glass and crystals. The small markets in Wilten, St. Nikolaus and Bergisel offer a fine range of regional dishes and gift ideas.
