Christmas and New Year's Eve in Innsbruck

Christmas time in Innsbruck? Maybe one of the best times of the year to visit Innsbruck. All the Christmas markets are open, you can smell roasted almonds and cinnamon everywhere, what a perfume! If you are looking for a very special Christmas present, you will find it here. And if you want to taste some typical food and specialities from the Tyrol, just do it - and don't forget to have the hot spiced wine or punch to warm you up!

By the middle of November, with the opening of the Christmas markets, Innsbruck offers lots of events: advent and Christmas concerts, a Christmas flea market, brass music on the tower - many of these events are free of charge.

Another spectacular highlight of this winter is the Lightshow MAX 500 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death day of Emperor Maximilian I. An imposing and elaborate 3D lightshow which transforms the facade of the Imperial Palace to a canvas and enchants visitors with visual and audio effects. Amazement guaranteed! The show takes place several times a day. Click here for the folder.
